Turnovers took their toll on the San Marcos boys water polo team on Tuesday.
Oxnard capitalized on the giveaways to score an 8-6 win over the Royals.
“As a team, we turned the ball over too many times and played right in the hands of a team with a very strong goalkeeper,” said San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton.
Andre Rivera scored three goals and had two steals to lead the Royals. Tyler Lisea added two goals
Ashton praised the play of goalkeeper Chris Bebb, who had six blocks and four steals.
The Royals hit the road on Thursday to play in the Riverside Poly tournament.
