San Marcos’ girls tennis team claimed 7-of-9 sets in both singles and doubles on Wednesday, more than enough for the victory in a 14-4 decision over Santa Ynez at Alisal Country Club.
Amy Ransohoff and Christine Pearson led the way doubles, pairing up to sweep their sets for the second time this season.
“Amy and Christine were all over the court, hitting volley winners and backing each other up after poaches. It was fun to see them play so hard and so together,” said Royals coach Jarrod Bradley.
Parisa Fallihi and Liz Morris can also say they swept three sets, as did No. 1 singles player Caitlin Mannix. In the match of the day, Chloe Maassen shook off two set points to come back and win her second set.
Emily Ineman posted a winning day for Santa Ynez, winning two-of-three sets.
San Marcos improves its record to 3-2 a day before a key Channel League clash with Santa Barbara on Thursday.
