Alexandria Peretiako fired a team-leading 45 at par-37 Santa Barbara Golf Club, but the San Marcos girls golf team dropped a 244-290 decision to visiting Oxnard on Thursday.
“This was the first golf match for many of our girls and we fell short of our team goal,” said coach Shawn Ricci. “As a team we know we can score 10-15 strokes better. We have six new players on our team this year and the girls have already created a solid bond with one another.”
Oxnard’s Katie Rice earned medalist honors with a round of 38.
“We will continue to spend a lot of our practice chipping and putting so we can continually improve our game,” said Ricci.
