Providence Hall plays with more confidence in loss

Providence Hall's Faith Emerson send a ball back over the net against Dunn on Saturday.

Hannah Park sets a ball in the match's third game.

Providence Hall pushed Dunn to the limit in the first set before falling 25-23, 25-11, 25-15 in a girls volleyball match Saturday at Westmont’s Murchison Gym.

“The girls are playing well,” Providence Hall assistant coach Laura Trudelle said. “In our last game, we came out scared and tentative, so it was good to see them get out to a good start today.”

The Lions (1-2) trailed 24-18 in the first game, but Olivia Johnson gave Dunn a scare with five straight points from the service line.

Trudelle praised the play of Hailey Barroca and Cielo Prischak, who is one of five team members playing volleyball for the first time.

“We’re learning a lot,” Trudelle said. “We’re actually playing volleyball. Dunn is a good team. This was best we played all season.”
