Milos Golic scored four goals and UCSB withstood several UC Irvine threats to beat the Anteaters 10-9 in the fifth-place match at the NorCal Invitational water polo tournament on Sunday in Berkeley.
The Gauchos built a 10-7 after three periods, but Irvine tallied two goals and pressured to tie the match. But goalie Myles Christian came up big. He made four saves in the second half.
Brian Bishop and Dylan Ballani each scored two goals for the Gauchos.
Earlier, UCSB defeated Pacific 9-5.
On Saturday, the Gauchos defeated UC San Diego 10-7 and then dropped a 7-6 heartbreaker to Stanford.
Golic, Brian Shoemaker and Noah Smith each scored two goals against UCSD.
Against Stanford, the score was tied 5-5 before the Cardinal tossed in pair of goals in the final period.
Former Dos Pueblos star Sage Wright scored two goals for Stanford.
