SBCC regrouped after giving an early goal and pumped in four unanswered scores to top Rio Hondo 4-1 on Thursday in a women’s soccer match at the Ventura Invitational.
It was the second straight 4-1 triumph for the Vaqueros (2-0), who make their La Playa Stadium debut on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Santa Rosa.
After Rio Hondo stunned the Vaqueros with a goal in the fourth minute, Alison Raack tied the score nine minutes later. She took a pass from Jenna Rubin and curled the ball into the top corner. In the 43rd minute, Margot Valenzuela put the Vaqueros ahead 2-1 on a free kick from 25 yards out.
Rubin scored in the 55th minute on an assist from Katherine Earle. Anne Dunne added the fourth goal in the 73rd minute on a header, with Valenzuela getting the assist.
“I was pleased with how we came back after falling behind early,” said coach John Sisterson. “We played very well.”
