Sergey Sushchikh and Bryan Fernandez won their class titles to lead Dos Pueblos to the large school team championship at the Bosco Tech Invitational cross country meet on Saturday.
Sushchikh captured the senior division and recorded the overall best time, covering the three-mile course in a record 14 minutes, 32 seconds. The Charger senior is coming off a stellar junior season in which he won five straight races, the Channel League and Santa Barbara County Championships and qualified for the CIF finals.
Fernandez took top honors in the sophomore men’s class, posting a time of 15:27. Teammates Max Davis and Ben York were right behind him. Davis finished second in 15:57 and York was fourth in 16:16.
In the juniors race, Charger Dylan Zukin placed 12th in 16:29.
Tanner Neal finished seventh in the freshman class in 17:05.
Jacob Bartholomew ran 15:25 to take ninth in the senior class. He was followed by Ryan Drew (17th, 15:48), Alfred Scott (21, 15:52) and Sam Sarmiento (32, 16:18).
“Overall, an unprecedented 20 of 21 Charger runners ran lifetime bests; and 19 of 21 runners medaled,” said assistant coach Len Miller.
As a team, the Chargers’ overall time was 1 hour, 17 minutes. 13 seconds. Warren took second in 1:18.53.
At the Morro Bay Invitational, Erin Campbell finished sixth with a time of 19:26. Campbell, a senior, is coming off a stress fracture suffered during track season last spring.
Sarah Jamerson (20:26) and Lara Schwalenberg (20:43) also finished in the top-25 for the DP girls.
