Chargers tripped up by host Sailors

Dos Pueblos’ boys water polo team ran into the host Sailors at the South Coast Tournament on Friday, falling 7-4 in the quarterfinal match at Newport Harbor.

The Chargers fell behind 4-1 at halftime and a second half rally fell short. Chase Racich scored twice for DP while Sjors Van Alphen and Christian Terpening recorded one each.

Dos Pueblos head coach said his team was getting the shots but that the Sailors’ Chris Whitelegge was a virtual wall in front of the cage.

The Chargers drop into the fifth place contest on Saturday, where they will match up against Los Alamitos at 9:30 a.m.
