Bishop Diego’s girls volleyball team gave itself a big confidence boost on Saturday by reaching the final of the Santa Paula Tournament.
The Cardinals went undefeated in pool play and beat Channel Islands and Malibu in the playoffs before falling to Thacher in the championship game, 25-20.
“We played flawless all day long,” first-year coach Erika Lilley said. “We’re a team full of sophomores and juniors and we played really good volleyball.”
Lilley praised the play of Diana Sleep, Nicole Tetherow, Makenna Hogue, Lauren Underwood, Maddy Ballard and Kate Sleep.
The Cardinals are back on the court Tuesday at Villanova before hosting Laguna Blanca on Thursday.
