SBCC’s Chijioke Aranotu scored in the ninth minute Tuesday night and Rodrigo Perez added a late goal to secure a 2-0 men’s soccer victory over L.A. Mission in the WSC opener at La Playa Stadium.
It the fifth straight shutout by the two-time defending WSC champion Vaqueros (6-1), who are ranked No. 2 in the state. They’ve won their last five by a combined 9-0 and have captured eight straight at home, dating back to last year.
Roberto Santana assisted on the first goal. In the 83rd minute, Perez blasted a shot to the top shelf after taking a through ball from Pierre Mattsson.
The Vaqueros travel to Oxnard on Friday for a 4 p.m. game.
