Five improved their scores for SBCC on Monday and the women’s golf team took fifth place in the South Coast Classic at Olivas Links in Ventura.
The Vaqueros shaved 22 shots off their first-round score with a 333. That was 13 strokes behind tourney winner Saddleback. SBCC finished at 688 while Saddleback’s 36-hole total was 633.
Freshman Nicole Bullemer fired a 3-over 75 to lead the Vaqueros. Her two-day score of 158 was good for fourth place. Anna Samson turned in an 84 on Monday while Lise Andersen shot 86.
WSC meet No. 1 was also held Monday and Canyons finished first at 329 with SBCC close behind at 333. Bullemer was the medalist of the five-team WSC event.
“We were pretty frustrated (on Sunday) and we set a goal to improve by 5-10 shots each,“ noted coach Chuck Melendez. “It was a vast improvement and we were a lot closer to the winning score.“
The Vaqueros will play in the Desert Classic on Friday and Saturday in Palm Springs.
