SBCC opened the women’s golf season on Sunday by shooting 355 in the South Coast Classic at Buenaventura GC in Ventura.
The Vaqueros are in sixth place in the eight-team event after one round. Saddleback is first at 313, 15 shots ahead of Canyons.
Former Dos Pueblos High star Nicole Bullemer led SBCC with an 83 and Kurumi Ando shot 87.
“It’s a new team and we were pretty nervous,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “We’re inexperienced but there’s a lot of upside. This is a good group with a lot of talent. We just didn’t show it today.”
The final round will be played Monday morning, along with the first WSC match.
