Sailors makes debut at baseball World Cup

Ghazaleh Sailors of San Marcos pitched one inning of scoreless relief for the United States in a 5-1 loss to Japan in an opening game at the International Baseball Federation Women’s World Cup in Venezuela on Thursday.

Sailors allowed two hits, no runs and no walks in her World Cup debut. She had one at-bat and grounded out in the seventh inning.

Sailors and the U.S. will be back in action Saturday against South Korea in Maracay, Venezuela.
