The superstar didn’t disappoint and the local boy delivered in the clutch to lead Lucchese to the championship of the Bombardier Pacific Coast Open on Sunday at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club.
Carpinteria’s Jason Crowder scored six goals and was named the game’s outstanding player in Lucchese’s 10-8 win over ERG.
Most of Crowder’s goals were set up by Argentine Adolfo Cambiaso, a world-renowned star of the sport. Cambiaso led Lucchese to a sweep of Santa Babara’s three high-goal tournaments and a record of 10-0 this summer. Before coming to town, he led teams to the U.S. Open and British Open titles.
A crowd of 3,000, including baseball slugger Barry Bonds, attended the final.
