Adrienne Binder turned in her best time of the season in Wednesday’s 1k swim at Nite Moves, which was also good for her seventh win of the season in that event.
The San Marcos grad and All-American swimmer at Auburn University, Binder broke 13 minutes for the first time. The 25-year-old’s time of 12:59 was the second-best of the season overall. Walker Bell holds the season’s best time in the 1k swim at 12:58.
Binder went on to place fifth overall (1st female) in the aquathon after a 27:17 5k run. Chris Arntz was tops in the aquathon with a time of 37:25. Arntz edged second-place finisher Norbert Hoehne by six seconds thanks to the day’s second-fastest run amongst aquathon competitors.
Santa Barbara’s Mike Shalhoub took the title in the 5k run with a time of 16:39. Paul Bryan placed second, followed by Goleta’s Matthew Bailey. Top female Christie Bjelland completed the course in 19:23, slightly outpacing Desa Mandarino(2nd) and Madeline Weber(3rd).
