Three Westmont College men’s tennis players have earned NAIA All-American honors and a fourth was named Golden State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete.
Junior Carlos Lima, of Porto Alegre, Brazil, was named a first team All-American in addition to being honored as a All-Golden State Athletic Conference selection. Lima, who played at No. 1 singles, posted a record of 8-9. At No. 1 doubles, he partnered with sophomore Bryan Cox to notch a season record of 11-5.
Cox, who hails from Alamo, Cal., was also honored as an NAIA All-American, earning a place on the second team. Playing mostly at No. 2 and 3 singles, Cox posted a record of 13-7. His doubles record was 12-7.
Junior Tiago Hayashi of Sao Paulo, Brazil, earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors after posting an 11-7 record in singles and 9-9 in doubles.
Kent Stormans, a junior from Olympia, Wash., earned scholar-athlete recognition by compiling a GPA of 3.60 as a business and economics major.
The Westmont men completed their most successful season in 13 years with a quarterfinal finish at the NAIA National Tournament.
