Former UCSB Gaucho Chris Valaika had a hand in the International League’s 2-1 victory over the Pacific Coast League in the Triple-A All-Star game on Wednesday, leading off the bottom of the sixth inning with a double before scoring his side’s first run.
Valaika, a second baseman with the Cincinnati Reds’ minor league affiliate in Louisville, was 1-for-3 on the night and is hitting .290 for the season.
Valaika starred at UCSB from 2004-2006 before being selected by the Reds in the third round of the 2006 First-Year Player draft.
