Maybe it was the sudden warm weather that drew more swimmers than runners to Reef and Run Series No. 12 Tuesday evening at East Beach.
Forty swimmers completed the 1-mile ocean swim and another 30 jumped in the water for the 1-kilometer race. The 2-mile and 4-mile runs, meanwhile, each had 15 competitors.
Jerry Mahoney, who’s been part of Santa Barbara Channel relay crossings, came in first place in 19 minutes, 15 seconds. Chris Morris of Goleta was second in 20:48. Dan O’Meara, 63, of Summerland (21:46) edged out 19-year-old Jess Broderick of Boulder, Co. (22:02) for third place.
In the 1-k swim, Doug Parent came in first in 14:23.
Taylor Harwood, 18, of La Crescenta won the 2-mile race and Santa Barbaran Taj Hudson took the four miler.
The duathalon (1-k swim, 2-mile run) was captured by Goleta’s Stephan Paul in 29:31.
hmmm… finished the mile in 19:15 last night, but not listed? Payback for not showing up all season?
Your time wasn't listed on the results from sbtiming.com
yeah, it was on Jane's clipboard. Don't know what happened. I've seen this before tho. Not a fool-proof system.
We contacted Jane and she confirmed your time. There is obviously a problem with their recording of the results. We'll correct the story
I appreciate it. Who knows, it might be 2 months before I do another one of these. SB timing still has it wrong though.
