The defense never rested for the Goleta Valley South Little League 10-under All-Stars on Sunday.
The local squad made several big plays with the glove in beating Moorpark 7-6 in a first-round game at the Section 1 Tournament on Sunday in Moorpark.
Goleta Valley South is now 8-0 in all-star play.
Alex Furukawa made two great catches in right field, Sam Drew was solid behind the plate, Bryce Quezada made two running catches in the gap and Evan Kling made a clutch third-out catch on a pop up behind home plate.
Trey Tank, Kevin Barker, Colter Nisbet and Isaac Oh all pitched for Goleta Valley.
At the plate, Dylan Shugart and Quezada each hit RBI triples, Trey Tank scored two runs, Jake Sofro had a two-run single, Nisbet went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Drew Darke went 2 for 3 with a double, and Barker scored two runs.
On Tuesday, Goleta Valley plays the winner of the Moorpark vs. Lompoc game.
