Santa Barbara’s Patrick Lindsey, a professional driver on the World Challenge GT series, successfully drove his Porsche 911 GT3 to a fourth-place finish last weekend at the Honda Indy Toronto — Ontario’s premier racing event.
Lindsey, 28, earned the MTM/Special Ops Watch Move of the Race for overtaking fellow driver Dino Crescentini, who went on to finish fifth.
Lindsey, a Bakersfield native whose day job is on Wall Street as a stock trader, drives for Santa Barbara’s John Horton and Horton Autosport, based in Goleta.
The race winner, Randy Pobst, set a new qualifying record and led every lap of the 33-lap, 57.915-mile race, averaging 69.574 mph in a race slowed by one caution for five laps.
Held on the streets of Exhibition Place, situated along the shores of Lake Ontario immediately west of downtown Toronto, the event draws the largest crowd to any sporting event annually in Ontario.
Lindsey and the World Challenge Championships return to action at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for a doubleheader at the permanent road course, August 6-8.
