Kyle Ownsby and Carson Vom Steeg combined to hold Moorpark to five hits and Goleta Valley South Little League’s All-Stars scored all of its runs in the second inning to post a 4-2 victory in an opening-round game of the Section 1 Tournament for ages 10-11 on Sunday.
Ownsby allowed just one run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings and Vom Steeg came in and finished the last 2 1/3 innings, giving up one run on two hits.
Hits by Blake Katsev and Josh Feldhaus followed by a walk to Kyle Gonzalez loaded the bases for Goleta Valley South in the second inning. DJ Sharpe singled down the line to bring in two runs and Moorpark walked in two more runs.
Goleta Valley South plays again on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Moorpark vs. Orcutt National game.
