Dos Pueblos ran into a powerhouse El Monte East squad and dropped an 11-6 decision at the Little League Junior Division Sub-Division 3 All-Star Tournament in Ontario Monday night.
The loss drops DP into an elimination game Tuesday night against La Mirada. If DP wins, it would have to beat El Monte twice to advance to the divisional finals.
Dos Pueblos capitalized on some walks and sloppy defense by El Monte to open up a 6-1 lead after four innings. But El Monte came roaring back and hit DP’s pitchers hard to overtake the local all-stars.
“That’s the best team I’ve seen at this level,” said DP manager Dan Rohde of El Monte.
DP was outhit 15-4. Nolan Soto, Brian Cho and Brody Curtis had RBIs for DP.
