Dylan Kelley scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Dos Pueblos a thrilling 7-6 win over visiting Saticoy in the final pool play game of the District 63 Little League 9-10 All-Star Tournament.
Dos Pueblos finished pool play undefeated and will be the No. 1 team out of Pool A for the double-elimination tournament in Montalvo on Saturday. DP will play Montalvo, the No. 2 team from Pool B, at 11 a.m.
Saticoy capitalized on some fielding miscues and took a 2-0 lead in the first inning Wednesday.
Dos Pueblos got one run back on a RBI single by Ashton Borgeson in the bottom of the second and scored two runs in the third on hits by Isaac Coffey and Thomas Jimenez to take a 3-2 lead.
Saticoy tied the score in the top of the fourth, but DP scored two more in the bottom of the inning when Nicholas Baker scored from third on a passed ball and Ashton Borgeson delivered another RBI single.
Saticoy rallied for three runs in the top of the 6th inning to take a 6-5 lead.
DP equalized in the bottom of the inning when Will Yamasaki was hit by a pitch, took second on a passed ball and came home on Davey Demeter’s RBI single to left.
In the ninth, Kelley got a base hit to open the inning, advanced to second on an error, moved to third on a bunt by Jed Donelan and then scored on the second pitch to Will Yamasaki that bounced away from the Saticoy catcher.
Demeter was a star on defense, turning two double plays and making some diving stops. He had five assists in the game.
