Peter Appel struck out 12 Ventura Coastal batters in a complete-game performance to lead the Dos Pueblos Little League 11-12 All-Stars to an 8-2 victory in District 63 Tournament pool play Thursday.
Appel allowed only three hits. He also helped his own cause by hitting a three-run homer in the first inning.
Kenny O’Donnell had a triple that knocked in two runs for DP and John Wetzel had a big game at the plate going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Travis Craven and Luke Coffey each contributed two hits.
DP continues pool play on Tuesday as they take on Fillmore at 6 p.m. at Ventura Coastal Little League.
DP All-Stars include Peter Appel, Jose Avila, Luke Coffey, Travis Craven, Dustin Demeter, Tim Heiduk, Kenny O’Donnell, Jonathan Sloan, Peter Trapp and John Wetzel. The team is managed by Don Heiduk and coached by Dave Demeter, Brian Craven and Steve Buratto.
