Wyatt Boyle and Matt Nichols combined for a non-hitter to lead the Dos Pueblos Little League 11-under All-Star team to a 6-0 win over Montalvo Friday night in the District 63 pool play tournament.
Dos Pueblos completed pool play with a 2-2 record. The double-elimination portion of the tournament begins next week.
While Boyle occasionally struggled with his control, he consistently came up with the big pitches with runners in scoring position. He struck out five and was helped out by stellar defense, especially from third baseman Jake Yamaski and catcher Matt Shotwell.
Nichols came in to get the final two outs.
Chris Noggle hit a two-run homer in the first when his long fly ball was inadvertently tipped over the fence by the Montalvo left fielder.
Nichols had two hits, including a hard-hit double in the gap that scored two runs.
Will Parker, Austin Bull, Zach Steinberger, Sam Majewski, and Jack Landis either got a hit or drew a walk.
