Blues halt Foresters streak at 15 games

A good thing came to an end for the Santa Barbara Foresters on Friday, as their winning streak was snapped at 15 games in a 6-3 loss to the San Luis Obispo Blues at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.

Santa Barbara (32-8, 22-6 CCL) committed four errors in the game and left seven runners on base. The second-place Blues (26-14, 20-10), who trail the seven-time defending champion Foresters by three games, needed an emergency start from Justin Lindsey and got a good one. The Kansas State righty gave up two runs on four hits over five and two-thirds innings pitched.

“Their original starter sprained is ankle so they went to Lindseay and he did a great job. He threw the big pitches when he had to,” said manager Bill Pintard. “San Luis is a good team, and you have to play good against them. We just weren’t very crisp today.”

The Blues took a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning before the Foresters got two back in the bottom half on a solo homer by Kyle Kubitza and an RBI single by Jared Womack. San Luis Obispo took a 6-2 lead in the seventh, and Foresters catcher Patric Tolentino drove in Michael Ratterree on a single in the ninth to cut the lead to 6-3, but it was too late.

University of Texas lefty San Stafford, who has a remarkable 34 strikeouts in 18 innings this season, will start in the rematch for the Foresters on Saturday at 1 p.m.
