Two members of UCSB’s talented men’s soccer recruiting class have received recognition from the national media.
Goalkeeper Eric Reyes and midfielder Jonathan Canales, both incoming freshman, were honored as ESPN RISE All-Americans.
Reyes, who attended University High in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and is a member of the Puerto Rico Under-21 national team player pool, was named a first-team All-American by the prep web site.
Canales, from JSerra High in San Juan Capistrano, was a second-team selection. He has played for the Cal South ODP team and the U.S. U-17 national team.
ESPN RISE used a combination of coaches’ recommendations, high school performance and recruiting details to compile its teams.
Reyes and Canales will join the Gauchos for the 2010 season, which opens on Aug. 21 with the annual exhibition against cross-town foe Westmont at 7 p.m. at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
Season tickets for the 2010 soccer season are available and start at just $75, which includes one ticket to all home men’s and women’s regular season games and one College Cup All-Session ticket.
The Gauchos are hosting the NCAA Men’s College Cup Final Four in December.
