Lakey Peterson overcame a bout of stomach cramps to qualify for Monday’s final of Surfing America’s USA Championships, where she will meet Courtney Conlogue, Kaleigh Gilchrist and Nage Melamed.
Fellow Santa Barbarans Conner and Parker Coffin will also be surfing on Monday, each making the semifinals in their respective divisions.
Peterson made the semifinals in both the Girls 16s and 18s, but had to withdraw from the 16s with severe cramps. She recovered enough to compete in the semifinals of the 18s and advance.
The Coffins, with Conner in the 18s and Parker in the 16s, each face three-man semifinal heats in the morning for the chance to advance to the afternoon’s four-man final.
