The Santa Barbara Breakers could not hold on to a late five-point lead on Saturday, allowing the L.A. Buzz to rally late in a 128-125 decision in the semifinals of the of the WCBL.
The Buzz(9-3) move on to face Newport Beach(10-1) in Sunday’s 1 p.m. final while the Breakers finish their season with a 5-6 record. It’s the first losing record in the franchise’s four years of existence.
Santa Barbara held a 121-116 lead against the Buzz before being outscored 12-4 over the final three and a half minutes.
Los Angeles’ Durwin Williams led all scorers with 35 points and provided the Buzz with a clutch 3-point play to give them the 128-125 lead.
Bryce Sheldon was Santa Barbara’s top scorer with 16.
