Dos Pueblos scored three runs in the fourth inning to overcome a one-run deficit and defeat Fillmore 3-1 in a 9-10 Division pool-play game Tuesday at the District 63 Little League All-Star Tournament at DP.
Eight players came to the plate in the fourth for DP. Davey Demeter led off with a single, Isaac Coffey walked and Thomas Jimenez reached first on an infield single to load the bases. Nicholas Baker hit into a force play at second and Demeter came home to tie the score at 1-1. A walk to Sam McGolpin reloaded the bases and Ashton Borgeson singled to the outfield to score Coffey and Baker.
Dos Pueblos got some fine pitching from starter Will Goodwin. He went four innings and was helped by some stellar defense. A double play in the first inning ended a Fillmore threat. Nicholas Baker, Dylan Kelley and Demeter provided solid relief over the last two innings.
With two outs and runners at first and second in the top of the sixth, Demeter came in and threw three pitches to get the save.
Dos Pueblos’ next game is on Wednesday at 5:30 pm against Foothill.
