Westmont Volleyball has announced the signing of two recruits who will begin playing for the Warriors this coming fall.
Tessa Martin, a two-time first team all-area and all-league selection, hails from La Habra High School. As a member of the Club West 17 Elite club team, Martin was named to the 2009 USA Junior Olympic All-Tournament Team in the 17 National Division. Martin, who stands at 5-8, plays as both an outside hitter and defensive specialist.
“Tessa is a great all-round player with a personality to match,” said Westmont Assistant Coach Patti Cook. “The team will greatly benefit from her steady defense and passing in the back row, and her smart hitting in the front.”
Also joining the Warriors is 6-1 middle blocker Marie Trudelle from Portola Valley. Trudelle, who played for Woodside Priory, can also play at outside hitter.
“We are excited to have Marie join the team,” said Cook. “She is an outstanding individual both on and off the court. Her blocking and attacking will be a huge asset to the team as well as her work ethic and positive attitude.”
Trudelle earned All-West Bay Athletic League honors in 2007 and 2008 before being honored as league MVP in 2009. She was also named to the first team All-San Mateo County and was named to the Don Bosco Invitational All-Tournament team. Trudelle also played for the Stingray Volleyball Club.
