The Carpinteria softball team has bounced back from a 4-game skid with a 4-game win streak, the most recent victory a 7-1 decision over rival Bishop Diego on Thursday.
Freshman Sarah Carrillo led off the bottom of the first with a home run and the Warriors never looked back. Pitcher Catalina Maldonado hit a 3-run double in the third inning and also struck out seven Cardinals, walking none and allowing just four hits. Roxy Hugo added a triple.
The Warriors (12-7, 3-3 Frontier League) play at Nordhoff next week and are trying to make a push for second place in league.
“We’re playing good team ball. We had that 4-game skid but now we’re headed back in the right direction,” said coach Henry Gonzales.
