Riley Moore knocked in Anthony Patolo for a walk-off victory on Thursday, bringing San Marcos’ baseball team a 3-2 Channel League win over Ventura.
“It was a nip and tuck battle,” said Royals head coach Rob Crawford, whose team had already locked up the No. 2 spot in league.
Ventura took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning but San Marcos answered back with one of their own in the first and another run in the second inning.
Moore had two RBIs on the day, the first coming on a solo home run for the Royals’ first run. Shane Moore drove in Patolo for San Marcos’ second run.
Payton Moore and David Kim split time on the mound and held Ventura to just six hits.
San Marcos (14-10, 7-5) will enter the post-season having won 6-of-7 games. Playoff pairings will be released on Monday.
