It wasn’t a storybook ending for San Marcos’ softball team, as the Royals suffered an 11-1 loss at Ventura in their season finale on Thursday.
“It wasn’t the way we wanted to go out but it was a great group of kids,” said head coach Alex Sheldon.
Becca Bernard blasted two home runs and totaled five RBIs for the Cougars, who also used a three-run home run from starting pitcher Courtnie Snyder to power the offense.
The game was called after five innings on run differential.
San Marcos’ Hannah Ball also connected for a home run in the fifth inning to get the Royals their one run.
Natalie Williams and Kelly McKay recorded hits in their final game as Royals, who finish their season with a 6-15 record.
