CIF baseball pairings were released on Monday, and San Marcos, Dos Pueblos and Carpinteria all started their postseasons on positive notes by gaining home-field advantages in Tuesday’s wild-card round.
San Marcos was runner-up in the Channel League this season but plays in Division II, which is wild-card happy. The Royals are one of seven runner-ups playing in wild card games, of which there are 16 total.
Channel League champion Santa Barbara awaits its wild-card winner in Friday’s first round.

The Dons will play either A.B. Miller or Los Osos while the Royals host Pac-7 at-large Nipomo on Tuesday, the same day Dos Pueblos takes on Loyola.
The Carpinteria-Magnolia contest is one of nine wild-card games in Division IV. It is also a battle of third-place teams, with Carpinteria coming from the Tri-Valley League and Magnolia from the Orange League.
Tuesday’s playoff games at San Marcos, Dos Pueblos and Carpinteria all start at 3:15 p.m.
Division VII plays its first round on Thursday, with Cate at Santa Maria Valley Christian to decide who will move on for a chance to upset No. 1 Cornerstone Christian in the next round.
