Roberts’ first-inning blast stands up for DP

Jordan Roberts ripped a two-run home run to center field in the first inning on Wednesday, a blast that would stand up and give the Dos Pueblos softball team a 2-1 non-league victory over visiting Hueneme.

Roberts’ second homer of the season scored Chloe Madill and ended up being enough run support for Chargers pitchers Ashlynd Williams and Marisa Radeke.

Williams started and pitched five innings to record the win while Radeke entered in the sixth inning to finish off a one-hitter for the Chargers.

Dos Pueblos (11-14, 6-5)  has one more game left on its Channel League schedule, Friday at San Marcos. A win there coupled with a Ventura loss in any of its final three games would give the Chargers a second-place finish in league.
