Righetti smothers Chargers in 1-0 decision

Righetti’s Haley Davis and Dos Pueblos’ Hannah Harris locked horns on Tuesday afternoon and battled toe-to-toe, but Davis’ Warriors squeezed out a run to edge the Chargers 1-0.

Righetti’s lone run was unearned and came in the first inning, as neither pitcher allowed much after that.

The Chargers did put two runners on base in the seventh inning with one out but failed to score.

Haley Peterson recorded a multi-hit game for the first time this season while going 2-for-3. Jordan Roberts tallied DP’s other base hit.

While the Chargers (12-15, 7-5), who played their last regular season game, are already assured a playoff berth, Ventura’s 4-2 win over San Marcos on Tuesday means that the Cougars can still tie the Chargers for second place in the Channel League with another victory on Thursday.
