Cate’s girls lacrosse team put forth a formidable second-half rally on Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough in a season-ending 15-8 loss to Redondo Union in the CIF Final of the Northern Division.
Redondo sunk Cate into a 12-3 hole at halftime. The Rams responded by scoring the second-half’s first four goals before Redondo put down the clamps and closed out the game.
Senior co-captain Steph Ruys de Perez scored a team-high three goals in her last game in a Cate jersey, while sophomore Annie Weis shared the team lead with another three goals. Abby Killea and Alexis Hill also scored for Cate.
Cate assistant coach Linda Sommers praised seniors Mackenzie Walsh, Sarah Appleton and Paige Miller for their strong efforts in their final games with the Rams.
