Cate boys’ lacrosse team split two games last week starting with a key Condor League 12-3 victory over Laguna Blanca on Wednesday, followed by a 7-2 loss against Palisades Charter High School on Saturday.
Cate played one of its most complete games of the season against Laguna Blanca with several players making key contributions. Michael Hassman gave the Rams the early lead with four goals followed by Cormac O’Connor, Conner Ingram, and Mackie Greason each getting two goals. Defensive ends Brendan Griffin Lyddon and Luke Shover held strong against Laguna Blanca.
The Palisades troop, with an impressive 16-2 record, got the best of Cate on Saturday. With two starters out, Ugo Nwasike and Wes Greason, Cate only had 14 players on the field. Cate’s defense was led by goalie Conrad Kurth and Shover did a good job of holding Palisades to only seven goals.
Cate plays again on Wednesday against Viewpoint.
