Rams clinch share of Condor League title

Joe Gottwald had another ridiculous stat line — 22 kills, 21 digs eight aces and two blocks — as the Cate boys volleyball team clinched a share of the Condor League title with Laguna Blanca by beating Dunn on Wednesday. Game scores were 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-12.

Stu Engs added eight kills and two blocks. Coach Dan Terry said that the Rams were errant at times, but did what they needed to do. He also felt that the officiating was one-sided.

“We had a bad serving match and missed 17 serves on the night, several of which at very critical times,” he noted. “Other than that, I thought we played very well considering the circumstances, and like our chances in CIF this year.”

There will be a coin-flip to determine which team, the Rams or Laguna Blanca, will receive the top playoff seed out of the Condor League.
