SBCC placed 11 players on the All-Western State Conference tennis teams — six women and five men. Both Vaquero squads finished second in the WSC with the men going 6-2 and the women 8-2.
Freshman Nikolay Ivanov of Belgium was a first-team All-WSC men’s choice in both singles and doubles. He and partner Regis Fastrez reached the Elite 8 at the State Championships. Cameron DeAragon, Kyle Lewis and Zach Scott (Nos. 4, 5, 6) were second-team selections and Alex Zazove was honorable mention at No. 2.
The doubles team of Zazove-Scott earned second-team honors at No. 2.
The women had four players make second-team singles — Amy Sagraves at No. 1, Terea Tapu at No. 4, Anna Slyutova at No. 5 and Lindsay Penner at No. 6. Meghan Schaefer and Kendra Ross were honorable mention picks.
Tapu-Slyutova, who won nine of 10 matches, were first-team in No. 3 doubles. Penner-Ross made the second team and Sagraves-Schaefer were honorable mention at No. 1.
