The UCSB women’s tennis team had five players make the 2010 Big West Women’s Tennis All-Conference team. In total, three singles players and two doubles teams were recognized for their accomplishments.
The three Gauchos that received recognition for the singles team were Sofia Novak, Natalia Lozano, and Tova Hausman. Novak was voted First Team All-Conference after being the only Gaucho to be nationally ranked this season. She was ranked the No. 93 singles player by the ITA rankings in mid-February. She finished the season with a dual match record of 9-14, and teamed with Hausman to finish 6-2 in doubles action.
Novak spent almost the entire season at the No. 1 singles position for the Gauchos.
Lozano and Hausman both received honorable mentions for their singles performances this season. Lozano played almost exclusively from the No. 2 spot this season, but also made four appearances at No. 1. She finished the season with a dual match record of 11-13.
Hausman played the majority of her matches at the No. 5 position, but her strong play propelled her as high as No. 3 down the stretch, where she finished 4-0. She also made limited appearances at the Nos. 4 and 6 slots, and ended the season with an impressive dual match record of 14-3, including victories in her last 12 matches.
On the doubles front, the team of Bryanna Ojeda and Hausman received second-team honors. The duo debuted late in the season, but finished with a solid record of 7-1, with all of their matches coming from the No. 1 position.
The pairing of Jordan Dockendorf and Lozano was also voted as an honorable mention. The two finished the season with a dual match record of 9-12, and split time between the top two positions for the Gauchos.
