It was Senior Night at J.R. Richards Gym on Tuesday, and Chad Arneson appropriately played only seniors as the Santa Barbara High boys volleyball team defeated Harvard-Westlake in five sets.
Blake Williams handled the setting duties and dished out 57 assists. Alec Smyth put down 26 kills and Austin Reiter had 12. Zach Gones added 10 put-aways.
“It was great. The kids played well, and a lot of these seniors don’t get on the court a whole lot so they responded. I was really happy for them,” said Arneson.
At 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the Channel League, the Dons have a chance to clinch a share of the league title with Dos Pueblos if they beat Buena on Thursday. They’ll then finish up the regular season at Mira Costa on Friday.
