Clark gets All-American status as sophomore

Santa Barbara native Carson Clark has been named to the AVCA All-American First Team, it was announced last week.

Clark, a 6’5″ outside hitter who played at Santa Barbara High, is now a sophomore at UC Irvine. Clark, who was named to the second-team as a freshman, is one of three sophomores on the 10-person First Team.

As a sophomore, Clark is already one of the most decorated UC Irvine players in history.  This year, Clark set the UCI single season records for service aces (50) and attack attempts (1,259) as well as ranking fourth in kills (564). The opposite was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) first-team, becoming the first Anteater player to be named to the first-team twice in a career. Clark becomes the sixth UCI player all-time to be named to the first team.

Clark ranked third nationally in kills this season with a 5.04 average and leads the nation in service aces with 50.

The AVCA Player of the Year will be announced at the NCAA Championship Banquet on May 5.
