As has been the case for much of the spring’s boys tennis season, three of the Channel League’s five teams are ranked in the top-10 of CIF’s Division I, led by league champion Santa Barbara at No. 2.
The Dons, who will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming playoffs behind No. 1 University, clinched their 10th straight league championship on Friday with a 12-6 victory over Dos Pueblos, which is tied for No. 10. Channel League runner-up Ventura is No. 8 in the division.
Cate’s boys tennis team was also in Monday’s fresh set of rankings, holding the No. 5 spot in Division IV.
BASEBALL *** SOFTBALL *** BOYS TENNIS *** BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Santa Barbara High’s baseball team caught a lot of buzz for its earlier 11-game win streak. The Dons are 3-3 since that streak ended but maintained their ranked status, taking the No. 8 spot in Division II and the No. 20 spot in the L.A. Times Southland 25.
Baseball teams have one more week to their regular seasons before playoffs begin on May 11 while tennis teams are deciding league singles and doubles champions this week and start their playoff matches on May 13.
