Chatsworth too much for Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara High has beaten some baseball powerhouses this season, but Chatsworth High School was too much for the Dons on Saturday in the final round of the Chatsworth Tournament, defeating the Dons 14-3 in a five-inning mercy-rule decision.

“They had four guys that were over 6-5 and looked like college players. They’re men playing boys, and we looked like boys today,” said assistant coach Mike Cooney. “It was a good experience, and we’re not sorry we scheduled them. It gave us a hint of what the playoffs will be like.”

Danny Zandona and Cameron Gniadek homered for the Dons, who are now 18-4 and have this entire week off to practice. Chatsworth, which had seven doubles in the game, is now 21-3.
