Charger girls have electric showing at CIF Prelims

The Dos Pueblos girls swim team will have a presence in just about every championship race at Friday’s CIF Finals after a “fantastic” day on Wednesday at Prelims, according to head coach Leslie Wiggins-Roth.

Michelle Dockendorf and Emily Rose Williams have the potential to come home with four CIF titles on Friday. Both are a part of two relay teams and each qualified in two individual events. Williams will be the third seed in the 100-meter free and fifth in the 50 free. Dockendorf was sixth in the 200 IM and eighth in the 100 breast stroke.

Kiley Neushul is a finalist in the 100-meter backstroke as well as a member of the 200 and 400 free relay teams. Neushul will also compete in the 200-free consolation race with the top qualifying time.

Janelle Nguyen made a final in the 500 free and will also race in the consolation for the 100 butterfly after finishing in 10th place. Like her teammates, Nguyen also competes on two relay teams.

While they are not competing in any individual races, Sami Hill and Madison Faulkner will make the trip back to Belmont Plaza in Long Beach to compete in the 200 medley and 200 free relay. Both Charger teams, which placed fifth at Prelims, recorded season bests on Wednesday.

The top eight swimmers in each event at Wednesday’s Prelims qualify for Friday’s championship races while finishers 9-through-16 are placed in to a consolation race.
