Wind blows game away from Chargers

A gust of wind made a big difference in Dos Pueblos’ softball game on Friday.

The Chargers had a 4-1 lead over first-place Buena, but a pop-up to the shortstop in the fifth inning blew all the way back in front of the pitcher’s circle and ended up bouncing to the dirt. Since the bases were loaded with two outs, the runners were going no matter what and three runs scored. The Bulldogs ended up winning the game 5-4, having gone 7-0 against the Chargers over the past three seasons.

Krista Martony had a two-run double for DP in the third inning, and the Chargers (5-4 Channel League) still have Santa Barbara and San Marcos on their schedule with a good chance of making the playoffs.
