Cate’s boys volleyball team didn’t go down easily on Friday night, fighting till the bitter end in a 19-25, 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 18-16 defeat at Nordhoff.
It was the first loss of the season for the Rams, who are now 3-1.
The match’s final set was back and forth with Cate even having a match point. But the Rangers came back and won the contest on a block.
Joe Gottwald posted a double-double with 13 kills and 30 digs while tallying six aces. Houston Bradley’s eight kills and Michael Castenda’s eight blocks aided the Rams’ cause.
Cate has matches against Pasadena Poly and Channel Islands next week.
