Just two days after posting a comeback win over visiting Malibu with a walk-off base hit, the Carpinteria baseball team was chomped in similar fashion down at the Sharks’ lair.
A leadoff triple was followed by a base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning on Thursday as Malibu downed Carpinteria 4-3 in their Tri-Valley League matchup.
“I guess it was good to be the team that bats last this week,” said Warriors coach Pat Cooney.
Carpinteria was down 3-0 heading into the sixth and picked up a pair of runs. In the top of the seventh, the Warriors scored the equalizer on a dropped fly ball by the pitcher with two outs.
Both Trevor Madden went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and starter Steven Blum pitched six innings, allowing just four hits while striking out eight.
The Warriors are now 6-4 overall and 2-2 in league play, while the Shark improve to 4-6, 2-2.
